FITTING INFORMATION

The simplest and most effective way to upgrade an air rifle is to fit a replacement power source that is stronger. Of all the tuning possibilities, upgrading the mainspring is the easiest. A mainspring should last up to the region of 10,000 shots. This will vary greatly depending upon the brand of rifle and the investment the manufacturer made on mainspring technology and materials used. Of course with the passing of time the strength of all mainsprings will drop and a new replacement will be needed.

Installation of springs into air rifles sometimes requires removal of coils by grinding and/or cutting the spring. This is normal and, before purchasing and fitting, should be taken into consideration. We are unable to accept any returns with modified/damaged springs. Removal and fitment of an airgun spring can be dangerous as they can be under considerable preload. If in doubt do not attempt the repair, consult a qualified gunsmith.

Should you want to undertake the task yourself an excellent explanation and guide

to how to change a mainspring (amongst many other things) can be found in the

book Spring Powered Air Rifle and Air Pistol Maintenance and Repair which you

can purchase in our shop.

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RIFLE WITH AN ACCURATE CHRONOMETER AFTER MAKING ADJUSTMENTS. MAKE SURE TO STAY WITHIN YOUR LOCAL LEGAL LIMITS.

Please note that there are many factors involved in finding the right size replacement spring for your rifle. Even if listed above sometimes the particular set up of a rifle will result in a different size being required. It is important to replace your existing spring with a similar size spring. Our spring size chart is shown below to assist with this. We will not reply to questions asking which spring will fit your rifle, please do not contact us asking this. You will need to measure the existing spring (taking into consideration it will have been compressed for as long as it has been used) and compare the size with the size chart below.
